Noddy Is Cutting Down

Meffff tells Noddy to make some changes. Noddy agrees and promptly falls asleep.

Noddy the Sloth promises Meffff he will cut down, then falls asleep mid-conversation.

Meffff, of all animals, has decided to stage an intervention.

“Noddy, you’ve got to make some changes.”

Noddy the Sloth nods slowly. “I know.”

After an impressive silence, he announces: “I’ve decided to cut down…”

Before he can finish the sentence, he is asleep on the table.

Meffff is left to wonder whether Noddy meant substances, work or sentences.

Behind the Disaster

Wanting to change is an important starting point, but turning an intention into action can be difficult, particularly when substance use, exhaustion or avoidance are involved.

Small achievable goals, support and appropriate treatment are more useful than promises made without a plan. If someone is unusually difficult to wake or has slowed breathing after substance use, treat it as an emergency rather than just a nap.
