Shakes Tries Breathing Exercises

Doctor Goose suggests that Shakes slow his breathing. Shakes discovers a new thing to be furious about.

Doctor Goose coaches Shakes the Chihuahua through a breathing exercise before Shakes erupts.

Doctor Goose has invited Shakes the Chihuahua to try a simple breathing exercise. Shakes is trembling so hard the furniture looks nervous.

“Focus on your breathing,” says Goose. Shakes inhales, closes his eyes and almost achieves a moment of peace.

Then the room makes the terrible mistake of continuing to breathe.

“WHY IS EVERYONE BREATHING SO LOUD?!”

Goose makes another note on his clipboard. Very slowly.

Behind the Disaster

Slow, comfortable breathing can sometimes reduce the physical intensity of stress and anxiety. It is a skill, not an instant cure.

When someone is already overwhelmed, even harmless sounds or sensations can feel unbearable. Support, patience and appropriate professional care can help; shouting at everyone with lungs usually cannot.
